A road construction worker is recovering after he was hit by a vehicle near Brian Head on Thursday. At about 11:30 a.m. on state Route 143, police say the traffic control worker was holding a stop sign when he was struck by a driver in a pickup truck. Police say the worker's injuries are not life-threatening. The investigation is ongoing.

St. George Driver Arrested For DUI After Hitting Girl On Scooter

A driver of a truck who allegedly hit a girl on a scooter and then left the scene is under arrest in Southern Utah. Police say Jason Stout was taken into custody and booked into the Purgatory Jail initially following a roadside DUI investigation by Iron County deputies. He is also facing charges related to leaving the scene of a crash involving serious injury. St. George City police on Thursday investigated the scene of a hit and run accident where they found a young girl with serious injuries. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment of broken bones and eye-related injuries. Witnesses told officers that a blue-colored Dodge Ram truck had been involved and the driver later identified as Stout had fled the scene. Police were able to locate the damaged vehicle at a residence in St. George.

Rollover Near Toquerville Sees Car Impaled By Gaurdrail-Driver With Minor Injuries

The sole occupant of a vehicle in a rollover crash in Washington County on Wednesday is relatively uninjured despite a metal guardrail lodging into the passenger side compartment. Hurricane Valley Fire & Rescue crews were dispatched to the single-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 in Toquerville at about 10:30 p.m. First responders say the vehicle hit the metal guardrail which went through the engine and then into the passenger's side.

One Protestor Arrested Ahead Of U of U Commencement

At least one female protester was arrested at the University of Utah campus just as commencement ceremonies were starting late Thursday. As protesters gathered outside the Jon M. Huntsman Center, officers arrived and took the woman who is not a student into custody. The unidentified woman is facing charges of criminal trespass, failure to disperse and disrupting a meeting or procession. Police say the woman was present at another campus protest earlier in the week. Officers say when protesters were ordered to leave, she refused and screamed at police as they were taking down the protest encampment.
